Anthony Hopkins Drops League-Best Performance on Saturday

Starting off the list is Northgate's Anthony Hopkins, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Hopkins picked up 37 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He has become a key player for Northgate: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two receiving touchdowns, but 1-4 otherwise.

Northgate moved to 3-5 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. Hopkins and Northgate will welcome Rochester at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Layne Posts Huge Game in 49-12 Victory

Keeping Hopkins company is Sonteon Layne, a fellow Northgate player. He threw for 150 yards and three touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes, and also rushed for 35 yards and a touchdown.

Layne must have Summit Academy's number; he was a force to be reckoned with the last time he faced them too. Back in September of 2023 (the last time Layne saw the Knights), he rushed for 66 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 87 yards and two touchdowns on only seven passes.

Kolton Carlson and Co. Win Fourth in a Row

Laurel picked up their fourth consecutive win on Friday thanks in part to Kolton Carlson. Carlson turned in nothing short of a gem, picking up 83 receiving yards.

Shenango had to have seen this coming; the last time they saw Carlson it was a similar story. Back in October of 2023 (the last time Carlson saw the Wildcats), he picked up 99 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 52 yards on only five carries.
