Basketball Game Preview: Jeffersontown Chargers vs. St. Xavier Tigers

Jeffersontown has won nine straight games at home (dating back to last season), while St. Xavier has won nine straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. The Jeffersontown Chargers will host the St. Xavier Tigers at 7:45 p.m. Jeffersontown knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight matchups -- so hopefully St. Xavier likes a good challenge.

Last Saturday, Jeffersontown was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 70-65 to South Laurel.

Meanwhile, St. Xavier was able to grind out a solid victory over Ryle on Saturday, taking the game 86-73. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked first, while the Raiders are ranked 49th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

St. Xavier's win came from a few key players Jeffersontown will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Chief Cameron, who went 6-for-7 to rack up 15 points and five boards. He is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last five games he's played. Jeremiah Jackson was another key player, going 7-for-12 en route to 15 points.

St. Xavier is on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 25-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 81.5 points over those games. As for Jeffersontown, their loss dropped their record down to 19-6.
