Baseball Recap: Morehead Has No Trouble Against North Forsyth

Morehead won the last time they faced North Forsyth and things went their way on Thursday too. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Vikings. With that victory, the Panthers brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Tanner Rippey was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Morehead is undefeated when Rippey posts two or more runs, but 7-13 otherwise.

In other batting news, Ethan Horton and Ben Wade did most of the damage at the plate: Horton went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Wade went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Wade has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Jacob Sands, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Morehead was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .733. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Forsyth only posted a batting average of .231.

Morehead pushed their record up to 10-13 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for North Forsyth, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-13.

As of now, neither Morehead nor the Vikings have any future games scheduled.
