Basketball Game Recap: Mathis Pirates vs. Woodsboro Eagles

The Mathis Pirates were the 87-18 winner over the Woodsboro Eagles when they last played one another back in December of 2018, but their luck changed this time around. Mathis was dealt a 48-21 defeat at the hands of Woodsboro on Tuesday. Mathis found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 24 to 3 on offense.

Woodsboro can attribute much of their success to Jaqulynn Tully, who scored 26 points along with 7 steals and 5 rebounds. The game was Tully's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aniya Zena, who scored 9 points along with 7 rebounds and 5 steals.

Mathis' defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Woodsboro, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Mathis will square off against George West at 10:30 a.m. on November 30th. As for Woodsboro, they will head out on the road to face off against Karnes City at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
