Basketball Game Preview: Martins Ferry Purple Riders vs. Morgantown Mohigans

The Martins Ferry Purple Riders will face off against the Morgantown Mohigans at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Martins Ferry sitting on seven straight wins and Morgantown on eight.

Last Thursday, Martins Ferry made easy work of Barnesville and carried off a 79-54 victory. The Purple Riders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Morgantown beat Steubenville 63-50 on Saturday. Given the Mohigans' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked first in West Virginia, while the Big Red are ranked 97th in Ohio), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Martins Ferry pushed their record up to 16-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 40.2 points. As for Morgantown, their victory bumped their record up to 14-2.
