Softball Recap: Woodville Drops Highest Score of Season Against Newton

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Woodville). They never let Newton get on the board and left with a 21-0 victory on Tuesday. The win was some much needed relief for Woodville as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Kendall Standley made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Standley was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with seven RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kamron Runnels, who went 2-for-4 with five runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those five runs gave her a new career-high. Heidi Spurlock also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Woodville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .585. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Woodville's victory bumped their record up to 8-16. As for Newton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 14 of their last 15 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-18 record this season.

As of now, neither Woodville nor Newton have any future games scheduled.
