Preview: West Valley Eagles vs. Anderson Cubs
West Valley is 8-2 against Anderson since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The West Valley Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Anderson Cubs at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in West Valley's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five contests.
Even though Lassen scored an imposing 59 points on Friday, West Valley still came out on top. West Valley walked away with a 68-59 victory over Lassen. The win was just what West Valley needed coming off of a 86-55 loss in their prior game.
West Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Chase Kalnins led the charge by scoring 18 points along with five rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Heacock, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Anderson's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by University Prep 59-31. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Anderson in their matchups with University Prep: they've now lost seven in a row.
West Valley's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-13. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.0 points per game. As for Anderson, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 15 of their last 18 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-20 record this season.
Everything came up roses for West Valley against Anderson in their previous meeting last Friday as the squad secured a 82-52 win. Does West Valley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Anderson turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
