Softball Game Preview: T.C. Roberson Rams vs. R-S Central Hilltoppers

T.C. Roberson is 1-7 against R-S Central since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Rams will welcome the Hilltoppers at 6:00 p.m.

T.C. Roberson couldn't beat Erwin on Wednesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the seventh inning. The Rams came up short against the Warriors, falling 10-4. Rams fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Warriors since on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for R-S Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They never let Burns get on the board and left with a 7-0 win on Thursday. Considering the Hilltoppers have won 11 matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Not much got past Maeli Crain, who gave up just five hits to keep Burns off the board. Crain has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Layna Jeffords, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Hasty, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

R-S Central's victory bumped their record up to 15-6. As for T.C. Roberson, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-14.
