Recap: Exeter Monarchs vs. Central Valley Christian Cavaliers
The Exeter Monarchs struggled with assists on Wednesday (the Central Valley Christian Cavaliers had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Exeter took a 58-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Central Valley Christian. Exeter has not had much luck with Central Valley Christian recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Exeter lost, one person who can't be blamed is Blaine Mcfall. Despite the final result, he scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Mcfall hasn't dropped below two blocks for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Aden Plyman, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Central Valley Christian was led to victory by Carter Hiemstra and Justin Stroud. Hiemstra scored 15 points along with four steals, while Stroud scored 16 points along with five assists. Stroud has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Keanu Kennedy, who scored eight points.
Exeter has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-11 record this season. As for Central Valley Christian, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-10.
Exeter will head out on the road to take on Hanford West at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hanford West knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight games -- so hopefully Exeter likes a good challenge. As for Central Valley Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Reedley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Reedley is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
