Basketball Recap: Griggsville-Perry Comes Up Short

Griggsville-Perry was the 45-39 winner over Calhoun when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Griggsville-Perry Tornadoes fell 41-32 to the Calhoun Warriors on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Tornadoes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 407th, while the Warriors are ranked 186th).

Despite the loss, Griggsville-Perry still got an impressive performance from Garrett Woodward, who posted 13 points.

Griggsville-Perry has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season. Their recent woes sure aren't a result of their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 34.7% in those games and 24.2% outside of them. As for Calhoun, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.

Griggsville-Perry has already played their next contest (against Astoria/VIT), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Calhoun will be playing in front of their home fans against Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
