Football Recap: Valley Comes Up Short

Valley lost against Mater Academy East Las Vegas back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Valley Vikings took a blow against the Mater Academy East Las Vegas Knights, falling 53-8.

Mater Academy East Las Vegas found their leader in sophomore Cheyanne Thornhill, who threw for 262 yards and six touchdowns. The dominant performance gave Thornhill a new career-high in passing touchdowns.

Valley has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-11 record this season. As for Mater Academy East Las Vegas, they pushed their record up to 13-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Valley will square off against Eldorado at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mater Academy East Las Vegas, they will challenge Cimarron-Memorial at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mater Academy East Las Vegas is facing Cimarron-Memorial at the right time seeing as Cimarron-Memorial is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
