1A Caribou Trail recap Oct. 3, 2012
Cashmere extended the longest winning streak in 1A Caribou Trail this week by beating Tonasket, 62-6. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
Cascade moved up to 90 from 124 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Kodiaks were able to make the jump by beating Chelan 54-19.
The Mountain Goats' dynamic duo of Luke Gleasman and Erick Oscarson proved tough for Cascade to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Gleasman threw for 204 yards and two touchdowns and Oscarson had 83 yards receiving. Zach Burchett helped Chelan's passing attack out by catching one ball for 35 yards.
Alex Hernandez was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 80 yards on 12 carries as Quincy fell to Joe Cronin's team. Andy Vargas also contributed to the rushing game with 72 yards on the ground.
Brewster's Parker Landdeck and Cade Smith have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 1A Caribou Trail in both passing and receiving yards. Landdeck has thrown for 407 yards this season, while Smith has 11 catches for 155 yards. The Jackrabbits' Jacob Durfee leads the league in rushing yards with 383.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Okanogan takes on Cashmere. The Bulldogs have allowed 65 points this season, while Phil Zukowski's team has given up 13.
