Baseball Game Preview: Victor Valley Jackrabbits vs. Monrovia Wildcats

The Victor Valley Jackrabbits are taking a road trip to take on the Monrovia Wildcats at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Victor Valley is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.

Victor Valley fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Hesperia Christian on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 5-4.

Tyler Aguilar was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Damien Mu?oz made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances. Emilio Sbolci also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Monrovia got the win against North Hollywood on Friday by a conclusive 14-3. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won five games by six runs or more so far this season.

The victory made it two in a row for Monrovia and bumps their season record up to 9-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Victor Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Victor Valley couldn't quite finish off Monrovia in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 and fell 4-2. Can Victor Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
