Softball Recap: Thomaston's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak on the Road

It's playoff time, and Thomaston had no trouble coming through when it counted. They were the clear victors by a 24-1 margin over the Vinal RVT Hawks on Monday. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.

Sloan Walmsley was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Thomaston let Jackie Phillips and Addison Patchell run wild. Phillips went 2-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Patchell went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits Patchell has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Brie Beaudoin, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Thomaston always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Thomaston's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-9. As for Vinal RVT, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-10.

Coming up, Thomaston will challenge St. Paul Catholic on Wednesday. As for Vinal RVT, they will host Old Lyme at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
