Darien took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Danbury, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Blue Wave skirted past the Hatters 3-2. This was a revenge game for the Blue Wave: when they faced off against the Hatters two weeks ago, they had to take a 6-0 defeat.

Vivian Knott spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

Darien always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Danbury only posted an OBP of .125.

Darien is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That lines up perfectly with their 16-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Danbury, their loss dropped their record down to 15-6.

Looking ahead, Darien will host Trumbull at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Blue Wave 2.2, the Eagles 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. Danbury does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
