Edgewood extended their losing streak to four on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 7-10 in the process. They fell 12-8 to the Jefferson Area Falcons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-1 on Thursday.
Edgewood got a big performance out of Devon Sanchez, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Zane Naylor, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
As for Jefferson Area, they now have a winning record of 8-7. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.
On Jefferson Area's side, Tate Hudson made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. Hudson has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Jefferson Area let Devin Salinas and Michael Riffle run wild. Salinas went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI, while Riffle went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those three runs gave Salinas a new career-high.
Coming up, Edgewood will face off against Howland at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season. As for Jefferson Area, they will take on Grand Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
