Basketball Recap: St. David's Skates Past Wake Christian Academy with Ease

While St. David didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They breezed past the Wake Christian Academy Bulldogs to the tune of 70-28 on Friday. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 25 points or more this season.

St. David's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Giorgios Panagos led the charge by shooting 60% from the field en route to 23 points and four steals. Panagos' big performance that evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Henry Morisey also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

St. David's was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wake Christian Academy only racked up six.

Despite the defeat, Wake Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Hudson Grissom went 7-for-14 on his way to 17 points. Abram Reas was another key player, putting up five points.

The win (which was St. David's third in a row) raised their record to 8-2. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.3 points over those games. As for Wake Christian Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

St. David's has already played their next contest, a 71-55 win against South Wake on the 16th. As for Wake Christian Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-46 loss against Coastal Christian on the 13th.
