Basketball Recap: St. Francis Wins Going Away Against Providence Catholic

St. Francis won against St. Rita last Wednesday with 53 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The St. Francis Spartans put the hurt on the Providence Catholic Celtics with a sharp 53-33 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Spartans also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

St. Francis is also on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 10-13 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points per game. As for Providence Catholic, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season.

St. Francis and Providence Catholic could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. St. Francis will face off against Brother Rice at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday down 228 places (234 vs. 6). Meanwhile, Providence Catholic (ranked 372nd) will meet Loyola Academy (ranked 47th) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
