Softball Recap: Columbus North Extends Winning Streak to Four

Columbus North extended their winning streak to four on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 5-4 in the process. Everything went their way against the Bloomington North Cougars as they made off with a 15-2 win. The Bull Dogs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Payton Morris made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.

In other batting news, Columbus North let Lily Retz and Summer Williams run wild. Retz went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Williams went 1-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three runs gave Williams a new career-high. Avery Shehan also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Columbus North was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .516. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

As for Bloomington North, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4. The matchup marked their lowest-scoring game so far this season.

On Bloomington North's side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaydence Silvers, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
