Preview: Peoria Panthers vs. Estrella Foothills Wolves
The Peoria Panthers will be playing at home against the Estrella Foothills Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Peoria waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Agua Fria 43-15 at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Peoria has posted since November 21, 2023.
Peoria relied on the efforts of Harmony Re, who scored ten points along with two steals, and Michelle Kogbara, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 19 rebounds. Re is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played.
Estrella Foothills was handed a two-point loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Goldwater on Tuesday. Estrella Foothills breezed by Goldwater on the road to the tune of 83-8. With Estrella Foothills ahead 52-4 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Estrella Foothills' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alina Bowden, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 20 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Omareeya Brown, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and eight steals.
Peoria's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-5. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 28 points. As for Estrella Foothills, their win bumped their record up to 19-3.
Peoria beat Estrella Foothills 55-42 in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Does Peoria have another victory up their sleeve, or will Estrella Foothills turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
