Baseball Recap: Bladensburg Takes a Loss

Bladensburg extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 33 on Friday, dropping their season record down to 0-8 in the process. They came up short against the Parkdale Panthers, falling 12-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 35-0 back in March.

As for Parkdale, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-5. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by seven runs or more this season.

For Parkdale's part, they let Jose Cruz and Jovanny Vazquez run wild. Cruz got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one double, while Vazquez got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Cruz has posted since back in March. Ewan Stark was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Coming up, Bladensburg will challenge Laurel on Monday. As for Parkdale, they will face off against Eleanor Roosevelt at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Raiders have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season.
