Basketball Recap: Oakmont Comes Up Short

Oakmont lost against Marysville back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Oakmont Vikings took a 69-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Marysville Indians. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Oakmont saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ocean Munoz went 7 of 15 to rack up 16 points in addition to seven assists and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Munoz has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jayden Washington, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds.

Among those leading the charge was Dennis Syders, who went 7 for 9 on his way to 15 points. He is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last three games he's played. Chevy Cadena was another key player, putting up nine points.

Oakmont now has a losing record at 11-12. As for Marysville, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-6.

Oakmont wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 66-17 victory against Wheatland on the 3rd. As for Marysville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 97-69 win against Center on the 3rd.
