Tri-River recap Oct. 9, 2012

Clovis North extended the longest winning streak in Tri-River this week by beating Clovis West, 53-29. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.

Buchanan moved up to 259 from 297 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Bears climbed the ranks as a result of a 50-22 win over the Bears.

Buchanan's dynamic duo of Tyler Fry and Billy East proved tough for Central to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Fry threw for 215 yards and two touchdowns and East had 100 yards receiving. Cedric Castro helped Buchanan's passing attack out by catching one ball for 38 yards.

Marlon Watkins was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 18 carries, he ran for 69 yards as Clovis lost to the Grizzlies. Teammate Adrian Salas added to the ground attack by rushing for 30 yards.

Buchanan's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Bears feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Fry has thrown for 1400 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, while Scott Sakamoto has 33 catches for 332 yards. East leads the league in rushing with 483 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Cougars take on Central. At the moment, Clovis is in third, while Justin Garza's team is in second.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Rich Hammond's team takes on the Grizzlies. The Cougars have allowed 69 points this season, while Central has given up 84. Clovis allowed 0 points last week as it bested Clovis East.

The Grizzlies took down the Bears 50-22 last week, the largest margin of any game.
