After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Christian Brothers, Brighton was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Munford Cougars 2-1. The Cardinals haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Brady Ray spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Brighton secured the victory behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Kaiden Ingram, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Ingram has hit this season.

Brighton's win bumped their record up to 10-11. As for Munford, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 15-11.

Brighton will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Cougars: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
