Basketball Game Preview: Nueces Canyon Panthers vs. Lasara Lions

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Panthers challenge the Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Nueces Canyon is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games.

Last Friday, Nueces Canyon earned a 22-14 win over D'Hanis. The 22-point effort marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Nueces Canyon's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Idrianna DeLeon, who posted six points along with 13 boards and four steals. DeLeon is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Schreiner Meredith, who scored three points in addition to eight blocks and seven boards.

Lasara played against Pawnee and won via forfeit.

Nueces Canyon's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 27-5. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 34.6 points. As for Lasara, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 10-14 record this season.
