Baseball Recap: Desert Comes Up Short

If Desert was feeling good fresh off their 14-3 takedown of Lee Vining last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Desert came up short against the Boron Bobcats on Tuesday, falling 12-6. The match marked the Scorpions' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Desert got a big performance out of Alex Mendoza, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Mendoza has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Webb, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Desert dropped their record down to 4-2 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Boron, their record is now 5-2.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Desert is set to face off against their familiar foe California City at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Boron will take on rival Kern Valley at 3:15 p.m. on Friday.
