Baseball Game Preview: Dayton Greendevils vs. Calvary Christian Cougars

Dayton hasn't had much luck against Calvary Christian recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. Dayton will square off against Calvary Christian at 8:00 p.m.

Dayton is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Monday. They lost 10-0 to Ludlow.

While Calvary Christian didn't have the best season last year (they finished 13-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on Ludlow with a sharp 14-4 win on Tuesday. With that victory, the Cougars brought their scoring average up to 7.6 runs per game.

Josh Ruwe was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off only two hits (and only one walk). Ruwe was also big at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adam Curtis, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Liam McCully also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Calvary Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive matchups.

Calvary Christian's record now sits at 4-1. As for Dayton, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

Dayton couldn't quite finish off Calvary Christian in their previous matchup on Friday and fell 5-3. Can Dayton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
