Basketball Recap: Centennial Falls Short of Sunnyside in the Playoffs

Centennial and Sunnyside squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Centennial had to settle for second. They came up short against the Sunnyside Wildcats, falling 89-66. The Golden Hawks haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Centennial lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Acen Zuniga, who went 6-for-11 en route to 15 points and six boards. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Ethan Garner also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Sunnyside's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tanner Wilson, who posted 34 points. Those 34 points gave Wilson a new career-high. Malachi Barnes was another key player, putting up 29 points.

Centennial's defeat dropped their record down to 16-13. As for Sunnyside, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-11.

Centennial does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sunnyside, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 56-44 loss against Frontier on the 19th.
