Softball Recap: Burlington Red Devils vs. Haverhill Hillies
Burlington's last matchup with Haverhill could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Wednesday. The Red Devils lost 20-8 to the Hillies. That's two games in a row now that the Red Devils have lost by exactly 12 runs.
Sofia Pantajos and Ellie Benjamin did some serious damage despite the final result: Pantajos went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base, while Benjamin went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
This is the second loss in a row for Burlington and nudges their season record down to 5-10. As for Haverhill, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Burlington will challenge Billerica Memorial at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Haverhill, they will take on Pentucket Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Pentucket Regional's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Haverhill's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
