Softball Recap: Mendon Extends Winning Streak to 14

Mendon waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with 13 straight wins... but they left with 14. They didn't even let the Union City Chargers on the board, marking their second-straight 15-0 shutout. Considering the Hornets have won 15 games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Rowan Allen was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Ally Butler was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, four RBI, and one run. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jadyn Samson, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double.

Mendon pushed their record up to 18-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.6 runs over those games. As for Union City, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mendon will take on Colon at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Union City, they will square off against Stockbridge at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
