Basketball Game Preview: Monticello Panthers vs. Beacon Bulldogs

The Monticello Panthers will face off against the Beacon Bulldogs at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Monticello came up short against Washingtonville on Thursday, falling 60-35. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 591st, while the Wizards are ranked 240th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Beacon). They blew past Liberty 76-29 on Thursday. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 28 points or more this season.

Beacon has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. As for Monticello, their loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-7.

Monticello didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Beacon in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 66-62 win. Does Monticello have another victory up their sleeve, or will Beacon turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
