Volleyball Recap: Struthers Wildcats vs. Girard Indians
Struthers was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to the Girard Indians. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Indians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in August.
The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-13, 25-17.
Despite the loss, Struthers saw an underclassman step up: freshman Trynyty Nail had 30 digs. Another player making a difference was Natalie Wolikow, who had 11 digs and five assists.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Girard to victory, but perhaps none more so than Chloe Plant, who had 29 assists and four aces. That's the most aces Plant has posted since back in August. The team also got some help courtesy of Fiona Allen, who had 15 kills and three blocks.
Struthers' defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Girard, with the victory, they broke their six-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-7.
Struthers didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Hubbard on the 16th. As for Girard, they have also already played their next game, a 3-0 win against McKinley on the 16th.
