Swansboro had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They had just enough and edged out the Jacksonville Cardinals 4-3 on Tuesday. For the Pirates, this counts as revenge for the 6-5 victory the Cardinals walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Addison McMillan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Katherine Cahall, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Adison Kirkpatrick, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.

Looking ahead, Swansboro will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on East Carteret at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Jacksonville, they will head out on the road to challenge Topsail at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
