Preview: Regis Groff Fusion vs. Thomas Jefferson Spartans
Two dominant guards in Mahmoud Ibrahim and William Perkins are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Regis Groff Fusion will be playing at home against the Thomas Jefferson Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Regis Groff will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 279th, while the Spartans are ranked 82nd).
On Wednesday, Regis Groff took a serious blow against the Nighthawks, falling 95-36. Regis Groff has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite their loss, Regis Groff saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Darius Owens, who scored 12 points, was perhaps the best of all. Ibrahim was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with four blocks and two steals.
Meanwhile, Thomas Jefferson strolled past the Vikings with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 66-47.
Regis Groff has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season. As for Thomas Jefferson, their win bumped their record up to 10-8.
Regis Groff was taken down by the Spartans 94-33 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Thankfully for Regis Groff, Miles Woods (who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
