Softball Recap: Saturday's Defeat Ends Columbus North's Winning Streak

Columbus North dropped their record down to 5-5 on Saturday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Center Grove Trojans, falling 16-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Bull Dogs have suffered since May 3, 2024.

Miley McClellan was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Jarvis, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

As for Center Grove, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-2. That looming 16-5 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

On Center Grove's side, they let Brynn Meyer and Sydney Herrmann run wild. Meyer went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Herrmann went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs Herrmann has posted since back in April of 2024. Mae Munson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Coincidentally, Columbus North and Center Grove will both be playing Bedford North Lawrence the next time they take the field. The Bull Dogs will head out to face the Stars at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Trojans will play them later in the day, at 2:00 p.m.
