Basketball Game Preview: Anahuac Panthers vs. East Chambers Buccaneers

Anahuac hasn't had much luck against East Chambers recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Anahuac Panthers will venture away from home to face off against the East Chambers Buccaneers at 6:00 p.m. Anahuac has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Anahuac is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Kirbyville, posting an 80-35 win. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won nine in a row.

Meanwhile, East Chambers strolled past Buna with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 67-49. Given the Buccaneers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 409th, while the Cougars are ranked 1108th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

East Chambers is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 25-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.4 points over those games. As for Anahuac, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-15.

Anahuac came up short against East Chambers in their previous matchup back in January, falling 51-43. Can Anahuac avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
