Basketball Recap: D'arie Vaughn's Big Game Can't Quite Lead John Marshall over Garfield Heights

John Marshall has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. 2025 welcomed they with a 47-26 loss courtesy of the Garfield Heights Bulldogs on Monday. The Lawyers were down 40-13 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Several Lawyers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was D'Arie Vaughn, who posted eight points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Danielle Brown, who earned eight points and nine rebounds.

John Marshall's loss dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Garfield Heights, they moved to 6-4 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

John Marshall wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 55-49 defeat against John F. Kennedy on the 7th. Garfield Heights has also already played their next contest, a 55-51 loss against Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin on the 8th.
