Baseball Recap: Ayala Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Ayala blew Bonita out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Saturday Bonita got their revenge. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Bearcats by a score of 5-3. The Bulldogs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bearcats earlier this season, when they won 6-0.

Ayala got a good showing from Isaac Huver, who tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Huver has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jaden Valenzuela made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Duarte, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Ayala's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-8. As for Bonita, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 16-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ayala will square off against Centennial at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Huskies will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Bonita, they will face off against Arcadia at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
