Volleyball Recap: Pender Starts Season with Victory Against Fairmont

Pender gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They put the hurt on the Fairmont Golden Tornadoes with a sharp 3-0 win.

The match was exciting from start to finish, as two sets needed extra rallies to gain a two-point lead. The final score came out to 25-17, 32-30, 29-27.

Jensen Bordeaux went supernova, getting 38 digs, six kills, and three aces. Those 38 digs gave her a new career-high. Eden Gurganous was another key player, getting 27 digs and two aces.

They weren't the only good server: Pender was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in eight consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Coming up, Pender will square off against Wallace-Rose Hill at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fairmont, they will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Purnell Swett at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
