Basketball Game Preview: La Marque Cougars vs. Wharton Tigers

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the La Marque Cougars take on the Wharton Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday... Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

La Marque will head into Friday's contest out to bounce back: they won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They had to suffer through a 71-39 loss at the hands of Columbia. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Roughnecks recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Meanwhile, Wharton was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 45-41 to El Campo.

Wharton has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-18 record this season. As for La Marque, their loss dropped their record down to 5-19.

La Marque came out on top in a nail-biter against Wharton when the teams last played back in December of 2024, sneaking past 55-52. The rematch might be a little tougher for La Marque since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
