Softball Recap: Amory Comes Up Short

Amory blew Ripley out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday Ripley got their revenge. The Amory Panthers fell just short of the Ripley Tigers by a score of 4-2. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Panthers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Amory saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Samone Burdine, who went 1-for-4 with one RBI.

With the defeat, Amory broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Ripley, their win ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-13.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Amory Panthers duke it out with Hamilton Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Ripley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Walnut at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Walnut is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
