Basketball Recap: McKeel Academy Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact McKeel Academy can now relate to. They were outmatched by the Lake Highland Prep Highlanders and fell 79-34. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Wildcats have suffered since February 7, 2024.

Despite the loss, McKeel Academy still got an impressive performance from Ava Anderson, who went 10 for 18 on her way to 22 points and six rebounds. The game was Anderson's 16th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Jordan, who posted eight points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lake Highland Prep to victory, but perhaps none more so than Valeria Munoz, who went 8 of 15 en route to 21 points in addition to five assists and four steals. Munoz has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Eryn Griffin, who went 8 for 13 on her way to 18 points along with eight boards and seven steals.

McKeel Academy moved to 11-11 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak. As for Lake Highland Prep, they pushed their record up to 13-11 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

McKeel Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Lake Highland Prep has already played their next match (against Windermere Prep), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
