Basketball Recap: Ryan Basham's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Hobart over Connersville

Hobart saw some tournament action on Friday. They took a 54-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Connersville Spartans. The game marked the Brickies' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Several Brickies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ryan Basham, who posted 13 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Miles White, who earned six points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Hobart smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since the start of last season.

Connersville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Hunter Allen led the charge by going 6 of 12 on his way to 14 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave Allen a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddox Rees, who put up ten points along with seven boards and four steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Hobart and nudges their season record down to 4-4. As for Connersville, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Hobart didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, an 87-51 loss against South Bend Washington on the 28th. As for Connersville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 71-50 defeat against Harrison on the 28th.
