Kay Pruitt was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Pruitt was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Delanie Cloyd, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Alexis Alcantar, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Gridley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Red Bluff only posted a batting average of .240.

Gridley pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Hamilton, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Hamilton came up short against Gridley in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, falling 12-7. Can Hamilton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
