Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Loss Ends Times Squared Academy's Winning Streak

Times Squared Academy fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Mt. Hope on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Mt. Hope Huskies by a score of 81-78. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (59), the Eagles still had to take the loss.

Times Squared Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Justin Urey, who posted 26 points. Steven Garcia was another key player, putting up 18 points.

Mt. Hope's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but John Thompson led the charge by dropping a double-double on 25 points and 20 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Maleaq Roderick, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 12 boards.

The defeat snapped Times Squared Academy's winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 9-4 record. As for Mt. Hope, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Times Squared Academy will challenge Paul Cuffee at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mt. Hope, they will face off against Exeter-West Greenwich at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mt. Hope is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.5 points per game this season.
