Basketball Game Preview: Washburn Pirates vs. Claiborne Bulldogs

Washburn hasn't had much luck against Claiborne recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Washburn Pirates will host the Claiborne Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m.

Washburn is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Monday. They fell 49-42 to Orange Beach.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Dillon Mullins, who posted 18 points. That was a full 42.9% of Washburn's points, marking the third time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Harville, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 boards.

Meanwhile, Claiborne can finally bid farewell to their six-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game last Friday. They came out on top against Clayton-Bradley Academy by a score of 63-53. The Bulldogs' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Washburn's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Claiborne, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Washburn took a serious blow against Claiborne in their previous matchup back in January, falling 76-40. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Washburn was down 43-23.
