Softball Recap: Signal Mountain Drops Highest Score of Season Against East Ridge

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Signal Mountain). They never let the East Ridge Pioneers get on the board and left with a 27-0 victory on Thursday. With that win, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 7.8 runs per game.

May Collier made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Berkley Roddy was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. Emilia Brauer was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Signal Mountain kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.2 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 9.4.

Signal Mountain's victory bumped their record up to 4-7. As for East Ridge, their loss was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-7.

Coming up, Signal Mountain will venture away from home to take on Girls Prep at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will need to watch out since the Bruisers have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests. As for East Ridge, they will take on Red Bank at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
