Maumee will face off against Elyria Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Maumee is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.7 runs per game this season.
Maumee is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Lake just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 10-6 to the Flyers. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Panthers, who until this game were averaging 4.08 runs allowed.
Reign Hurt made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Smith, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Elyria Catholic had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Tuesday. They blew past the Lions 15-8. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.
Jessica Conner was a standout: she fired off two home runs, five runs, and three RBI while going 4-for-4. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in May of 2025. Aralyn Gould was another key player, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-3.
Elyria Catholic lost a few balls and finished the game with five home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Maumee's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 8-4. As for Elyria Catholic, their record now sits at 12-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Maumee has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Elyria Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Maumee might still be hurting after the 7-1 loss they got from Elyria Catholic in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can Maumee avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
