Basketball Game Preview: Messalonskee Eagles vs. Mt. Blue Cougars

The Messalonskee Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the Mt. Blue Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Messalonskee will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.

Messalonskee is headed into the contest having just posted their biggest win since December 13, 2024 on Friday. They blew past Camden Hills 76-51. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Eagles have posted against the Windjammers since December 18, 2015.

Meanwhile, Mt. Blue had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They snuck past the River Hawks with a 48-44 win. That's two games straight that the Cougars have won by exactly four points.

Mt. Blue pushed their record up to 12-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Messalonskee, they have also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season.

Messalonskee beat Mt. Blue 48-37 when the teams last played on January 7th. The rematch might be a little tougher for Messalonskee since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
