Softball Recap: Sumner Snags Sixth Victory in Last Eight Games

Sumner hadn't done well against Rogers recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Spartans had just enough and edged out the Rams 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Spartans have posted against the Rams since May 25, 2019.

Riley Meyers was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with five RBI, one triple, and one run. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Naya Alastra, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Sumner is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Rogers, their loss ended a 14-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 17-2.

Coming up, Sumner will welcome South Kitsap at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolves have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season. As for Rogers, they are taking a road trip to face off against Puyallup at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
